Chubby Carrier has had his band for 35 years. He is the 3rd generation Zydeco artist to come out of the Carrier’s family. He played his first gig on the drums with his daddy’s band at the age of 10. At 14, he played his first gig on the accordion. In 1987, he joined Terrance Simien Zydeco band and toured all over the world with Terrance for 2-1/2 years. In 1989, he started his own band, Chubby Carrier & The Bayou Swamp Band. The band toured all over the world. In 2010, Chubby won a Grammy award for “Best Zydeco or Cajun album of the Year”. In 2011, he was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.

Dwayne Dopsie & The Zydeco Hellraisers

The 2023 Grammy award winner / 2024 Grammy Nominee Dwayne (Dopsie) Rubin hails from one of the most influential Zydeco families in the world. Has performed all over the world. The Louisiana native is known around the world as the king of the Accordion because of his blues style and skill of playing, it tends to make you stand and watch and wonder how’s he doing it. Dwayne has played and perfected his style over a 38 year span since he was a kid. The pure feel of zydeco and love for the music comes out in his playing!

One of Dwayne’s biggest accomplishment was winning a Grammy Award for his work on the Sony Film Jazz Fest: A New Orleans Love Story! And not only that he’s also a 2-time Grammy nominee 2012-2018, 21 time Offbeat Winner, Best Accordion, Best Band, Zydeco Album, and Best Zydeco Artist.

Bayou Sunflowers "New Orleans style" Live Cooking Demonstrations throughout the day

Bayou Sunflowers Chefs (5th generation) will cook up New Orleans “Beignets / Crawfish Beignets” a 120-year old recipe passed down through the family and now, served up in Louisiana and also right here at the Crawfish Festival at the Cafe Monde Qvondeyz booth. Dubbed as the official state doughnut of Louisiana. These New Orleans doughnuts are the best! Soft, pillowy and light just like the ones at Cafe du Monde but taste even better! You can’t beat homemade.
